At GUIDE92, the health, safety and well-being of children is of paramount concern to us. We listen to our students and take seriously what they tell us. Our aim is for students to enjoy their time at the provision.
We work in partnership with all stakeholders to help students achieve their full potential and make a positive contribution to the world they will be part of in the future.
Our policies relating to safeguarding apply to all adults including volunteers working in or on behalf of GUIDE92. To promote a safe environment for pupils, our selection and recruitment policy includes all checks on staff and regular volunteers' suitability, including Disclosure and Barring Service checks.
GUIDE92 is firmly committed to creating a safe and supportive environment where every student can thrive.
Establishing and maintaining an ethos where students feel safe, secure, valued and respected — encouraged to talk openly and always listened to.
Ensuring that all students know there is always an adult within the centre they can approach if they are worried, struggling or in difficulty.
Including opportunities across the PSHCE and wider curriculum for students to develop the skills they need to recognise and stay safe from harm.
All GUIDE92 staff are trained to be alert to the signs of abuse and to follow the procedures set out in our Safeguarding Policy at all times.
The Designated Safeguarding Lead ensures all staff receive regular child protection awareness training to maintain best practice.
Working in close partnership with schools, local authorities, and families to build a collaborative safeguarding approach around every child.
In accordance with our responsibilities under section 175/157 of the Education Act 2002 and "Keeping Children Safe in Education" (2019), GUIDE92 has appointed a Designated Safeguarding Lead and Deputy DSL, both of whom have received appropriate and up-to-date training for their roles.
All staff and regular volunteers undergo DBS checks as recommended by Luton Borough Council and as required by current legislation. Our safer recruitment policy ensures the suitability of every adult working with our students.
