Often children experiencing problems with mainstream education have strong academic abilities and can sit their GCSE examinations at our centre. This allows them optimum opportunity for success within an environment they are familiar and comfortable with.
We support students in Maths, English, Science, ICT, and Motor Mechanics, as well as vocational routes through Functional Skills qualifications in Literacy, Numeracy and ICT.
Core Subjects: English, Maths, Sciences, and Computing (GCSE / Functional Skills) are delivered using work set from Base School, or by following KS4 resources from various providers. For students on a long-term basis we deliver our bespoke Schemes of Learning (SoL), accredited with the appropriate qualification (subject to approval from Base School).
GCSE English and Functional Skills Literacy for all ability levels.
GCSE Maths and Functional Skills Numeracy with structured support.
GCSE-level Biology, Chemistry and Physics with practical understanding.
GCSE Computing and Functional Skills ICT, including ECDL Level 2.
Through teacher-led discussions, activities, workshops and personal life examples, students develop the 5 key strands:
Students gain raised awareness of self-reflection, emotional regulation, empathy, motivation, and the importance of strong social skills.
Using the Enneagram model (Riso, 2012) to understand personality types, regulate emotions and develop strengths later in life.
All course registrations must be made at Base School, unless the student is with GUIDE92 full time.
This list is not exhaustive. Workshops are designed to support students with life skills alongside academic development.
Our Key Stage 4 offer supports students with both academic skills and life skills — preparing them for college, university or the workplace.
